Step back in time to take exclusive hire one of the most stunning Elizabethan manors in the Cotswolds ensconced in over 100 acres of perfect English countryside. A wealth of history surrounds the property, which in the 1500s was owned by Edward Seymour, the Duke of Somerset, as well as Sir John Thynne whose heirs have been living in the renowned Longleat ever since. Regular visitors to the property include Sir Walter Raleigh and his brother Carew. Grade II star listed, The Manor has changed very little, internally and externally for nearly 450 years.

Inside

  • Style: Country manor house charm.
  • Bedrooms: There are seven bedrooms at the property; six on the first floor – 2 set doubles (one with en suite bathroom) and four twin rooms, as well as a truckle bedroom on the mezzanine floor. There are two family bathrooms – both with separate bath and showers, an upstairs loo and downstairs shower room.
  • For relaxation: Kick back and relax in the main family sitting room – the perfect area for playing board games in front of a roaring fire looking out over the partaire.
  • For recreation: Teenagers can work off some excess energy in the barn; whether they’re looking to play basketball or football if the weather isn’t quite as nice as you had hoped.
  • Practicalities: There is a utility/boot room at the property.
Outside

Explore 100-acres of grounds, from the croquet lawn to the larger flat lawn leading out the side of the property, for football and cricket, perfect for summer dining. Then there are woodland walks to enjoy, a large pond (fenced), a tennis court and even a shepherd's hut on the hill - the perfect venue for an alternative al fresco supper adventure for children; it sleeps four and the view is breathtaking.

Safety Notice Due to the nature of the gardens and its surroundings, where there are exposed ponds, we strongly advise that children are not to be left unattended at any time and a signed safety disclaimer is required.

Food and Wine

  • DIY: The farmhouse kitchen overlooking the grounds to the back of the property is the perfect base to rustle up a full English breakfast or a three-course gourmet feast. Complete with characterful AGA, there is also a standard electric oven, American fridge and larder.
  • In-house cuisine: There are local catering contacts available for everything from a home cooked fish pie on arrival to a catered evening meal
  • Eating out: The Cross Keys, a 5-minute drive from the property, serves delicious food. The famous Babington House is 15 minutes from the property, The Bath Arms at Crockerton is just 10-minutes from the house, and other eateries nearby are in the Good Food Guide.
Getting There
  • On the map: The Manor is located in Corsley; which is around 5 minutes from Longleat Safari Park, around 25 mins from Bath and 30 minutes from Salisbury.
  • By car: The property is around a 2-hour drive from London.
  • By train: The nearest train station is Warminster which is 12 minutes from the house, trains depart from here to London Waterloo. The quickest route is from Westbury to London Paddington which takes just 80-minutes, and the property is 15-mins from Westbury.

Out and About

  • Visit nearby Longleat Safari Park, and Longleat House, home of the Marquis of Bath whose ancestors built The Manor in 1560.
  • Frome Festival which runs from July 4 to 13 08, is a week-long art, drama, music and food extravaganza !
  • Sooth away your worries at the Thermae Bath Spa, Britain's original and only natural thermal spa. Spa sessions include full access to the warm waters of the Minerva Bath, a series of aromatic steam rooms and the open-air rooftop pool with spectacular views across the skyline of Bath. Bliss!
  • Hire a boat for a day from Bradford on Avon to take in the views on the Kennet and Avon canal
  • Visit Stonehenge and Salisbury with its famous spire.
  • Spend a day at the races - both Bath and Wincanton are within a short distance of The Manor.
